I was interested in seeing what the most popular games of today were, and decided probably the best place to look was xfire and raptr (linked below) to see whats killing it. Keep in mind that Xfire is PC only, Raptr is cross platform (ps3 doesnt show up on here).

Wow. League of legends in DOMINATING the PC world. blops 2 360 still takes #1 (noone should be suprised) but LoL is over double the gametime of WoW, and kills everything on xfire. I think Xfire may be the more intense PC only guys, where Raptr is a little more casual due to its cross platform nature, and perhaps thats why we see such a weird distribution over there (WTF old COD games?). It did my heart well to see World Of Tanks doing well on the PC side of things regardless!

Raptr notes that Dota2 has been coming in strong recently, growing very rapidly. And I'm so impressed with minecraft. Despite being a pretty old game at this point, between the 360 and PC users (I wish they would combine them for this) that little game is doing awesome. I think its interesting :)

Guys and gals,

I'm thinking about ways we can get some more people to the forums. More people equals better conversations and more friends! So what can we do the entice people to join us here?

I know we have this whole Karma thing. But we need some cool items to give out. What would you want to get?

Game cards?

T-shirts? (still designing those)

Shot glasses?

I dunno, you tell me!

Weekly Loot

So as some of you saw last week we gave away some Awesomenauts beta keys during our Weekly Loot video (our weekly friday recap video). I know the sound was not great, but that's why i'm here.

We are updating the Weekly Loot, you'll see the difference tomorrow. But we are basically going to be giving away something (loot) with each video. You'll have to watch the video and then it will tell you how to win.

Prizes will include, exclusive beta keys and gaming gift cards for Steam or Game Stop or Best Buy etc.

I suppose this is mainly towards kirk to decide but I do also want to see how many people would find this useful; I want to start working on a weekly upcoming indie game. These include a LOT of kickstarters, but also games being worked on that look good. I have a few questions that I want you guys to answer before I start this:

1. How many computer games do you keep track of that haven't come out yet?

2. Would you find it useful to learn about a new and interesting game every week?

3. What kinds of games are you excited for, if you do keep tabs on some?

Some of the games I want to include are Cube World, Overgrowth, Cave Story, Timber and Stone, a Game of Dwarves, or even the Yogscast's game, Yogsventures. Some games will be more well known than others, but for each one I'll be introducing it, giving a short review on what it has that other games don't, why it's exciting, etc. then I'll be putting up pictures or video if it has any, and also linking to its website/kickstarter. I could either do this instead of normal reviews or on top of them, depending on what's needed. I just feel like it would be really interesting for people to get the information that they normally wouldn't about upcoming games that are new and bring exciting and original ideas to gaming. Let me know what you think!

"Error" Messages

So you may or may not know we are doing a re-design of the site. It's almost complete!

I wanted to add clever error messages on the site, similar to how Reddit does it. Like when the site is down they have the "you broke reddit" message.

So what are some of your ideas for the following:

We need a clever message for when people are posting too fast.

We need a message and/or picture for any 404/not found pages.

umm, that's all I can think of right now, but i'll post more if I think of them.

I just wanted to get some feedback on the video content we've been doing lately.

Obviously, YouTube metrics like views, comments, and ratings are the best way of determining what people like to see.

But, we also value feedback from the community. So...what do you guys think of the Daily Drop, CircleKirk, PvP, Weekly Loot, and the interview Kirk and I did on the beach? Are there any videos you particularly liked versus ones you think we might not need to waste our time on?

This will get posted to the frontpage as well, but I'll be meeting up with some guys from The Behemoth (the game studio that made Castle Crashers, Alien Hominid, and is making Battleblock Theater) in the coming weeks for an on-camera interview, so I need you guys to come up with questions I can ask them! Anything you'd want to hear them answer, from "where did the humor in Castle Crashers come from?" to "how many hot dogs could you eat in four minutes?"
