What blockbuster movies will you RUN to see this summer? I already posted some I am looking forward to seeing; Spiderman, Prometheus, Battleship, Snow White and the Huntsman (because in the previews the visual artistry looks amazing!), the new Batman movie and G I Joe. Are there any other exciting movies coming that you all are excited about? -

I too go to the movies for the visual effects now a days. ILM does most if not all the visual effects in movies this year alone. They also make money off the movies and how well it does in the theaters. So I back them up when people say Battleship is a bad movie when it actually isn't

Well I was looking forward to MiB3, however that's coming out tomorrow so not much of a wait anymore.
Battleship (which is out now) - Mostly for the intense use of special effects, and Liam Neeson is a decent actor.
Prometheus - Ridley Scott. I mean, what else needs to be said. This is going to be epic, with an epic director. Love his movies and can't wait; plus great actors to boot.
Dark Knight Rises - Just going to be amazing.
Total Recall - Original was badass. Wanting to see this, just to see how well they rebooted this.
The Expendables 2 - Jean Claude Van Damme. Nuff said. Haven't seen him in any decent movies since he got back into acting. Finally. Plus everyone else of course!
Past summer releases I'm waiting on -
Resident Evil Retribution - Huge RE fan. Would see if even shitty.
Silent Hill Revelation - Will be epic no doubt. Liked the first one a lot, and this one should be even better. Plus Malcom Dowell? Seriously? Even better.
Star Trek 2 - Really enjoyed the new reboot, and will be looking forward to this.
Mortal Kombat - Can't wait for this reboot. To bad we have to wait until early 2013. Sucks.

I didn't see Starship Troopers but I would guess that everyone looked Asian in that movie because they probably outsourced most of the artwork of the characters to Japan. -
And to Kirk, I'm going to probably see Battleship this long weekend. I will let you know if it is worth seeing. I say it can't be that bad. All the visual effects and the aliens rising up out of the sea in the previews look awesome.

Star Ship Troopers was an awesome movie. However I hated how they ruined the second one. Needed a bigger budget no doubt, and better director. Needs JJ Abrams to direct it. If the upcoming one is full CGI, no thanks. I like a mix of reality and CGI.
I'm watching MiB3 and Battleship this weekend.

I'm not saying Battleship is going to be bad, it just seems like such a weird concept for me, a movie about a board game. just rubs me the wrong way. but i'm sure the visual effects will be amazing! -

lol, not sure about the board game part. That is boats vs boats, where as this is boats verse aliens. However I do feel the same way, in that the plot seems to be kinda rubbish and bland. I'm going to see it, however I'm mostly going for the visuals. However not holding my breath on the plot. I'm sure it'll have some great acting etc, with all the excellent people in it.. but the plot is a no go.

I like the plot. Although it's the same as every story about aliens as they are here for our resources. But if you think of it as the Avatar movie where we go to Pandora and steal there resources. Also anything to do with an alien race you can make a good plot since we have had no contact with any aliens it make it perfect to create what ever we want. More alien movies means more concept on a franchise or universe.

Also, to Kirk, I know what you mean about the film being based on a board game. But then again, the orginal Pirates of the Caribbean movie was based on a Disney theme park ride, and it was still a good movie. I think it all depends on the writing and the director of the movie if it will be good or not. -

people are also forgetting that the aliens are playing by the game rules in some ways. I think that was the whole point of the film was to do that but everyone started crying about how bad the film was. AS USUAL like with every movie that comes out people gotta cry without looking deep within the film it's self to see the message that it brings

Also, I want to see BATTLESHIP this weekend and I thought it was great for what it was. It was a very long movie, over two hours, but there is a lot of action so it didn't seem like a long movie. I went with my husband and daughter and we all gave it a thumbs up. Although, I think my daughter mostly gave it a thumbs up because she thinks Taylor Kitsch is hot. -
Abraham Lincoln Vampire slayer is on the top for me!
