Did anyone ever try the game Gunbound before? It's a free-to-play turn based game built using hosted rooms for each round of play.
If you liked the game Worms, you will probably like this. Tons of vehicles and weapons to use. Very simple concept and nice way of chatting with people during wait time. Very cool avatar builds, only a few slots but still fun. I highly advise playing the Thor's Hammer edition. It's the older classic version but it runs smoother in my opinion.

I hated when Thor would activate right after your long delay began. Nak is a beast, although I am very nostalgic to the Mage because it was the first thing I ever used for a while. What does everyone else use?

Not interested in 2d graphics -
I used to play this a lot. I loved using the Grub because his ammo would bounce of the edge of the screen instead of flying out into nothingness.

2D graphics work way better with some game types and this is one of them. I've always believed there is genius in simplicity. Some games are lacking because of it though.
