I'd be down to play minecraft, never played with anyone else besides myself.  I think it would be awesome to play LoL since it's free as well, haven't played it yet, but it's like dota so i'd be into it.

A game that's pretty fun with groups of players is All Points Bulletin (free), although it does need a decent rig to run. I don't have minecraft, but I've been thinking of getting it to goof around on. Although, are we talking PC or Xbox if Minecraft, as I'd be getting it for PC. I haven't touched my Xbox in like 5 or more months now. lol.

i think we're assuming PC, because i know we at least all have a PC, right?  I guess people could be using their phones to access the forums or something.

minecraft is totally worth it, and yeah i think PC is what were looking at lol

not sure how LoL would work with a large group considering its 3v3 or 5v5, we might get awkward numbers
if we could pull it off that would be a pretty fun option though

Minecraft would be totally awesome! I have a server, but I don't bring it online unless people actually want to play on it. Otherwise it would just sit there, empty.. lol

Also, TF2 is something I could see possibly happening, don't you think? Especially how it's f2p now. I wonder how hard it would be and what kind of money it would take to get us a TF2 server that is always up... Anyone knowledgeable on that subject?

Just name the game and I will try to make it!

If we got an organized group of 10 we could do some LoL matches or something. Minecraft wouldn't be bad.
Also maybe some quake live or something quick and easy like that to start off with.

Source engine based games are often $1.00USD - $1.50USD (depending on tick rate) per slot. TF2 servers tend to be on the cheaper side because TF2 is locked at 66-tick, CS:S used to be more expensive because it wasn't locked at 66, but now it is so it should also be similar in price. The only servers I can think of that get near the $1.50/slot range are servers specifically setup for competitive play.

old games would work best because of their small filesize and low requirements as well. Stuff like halo, quake or starcraft 1. Also for minecraft, does anyone have a server they can have up that doesnt require LAN? unfortunately my ISP has the ports needed blocked so I can only run it via hamachi (which we could use for a virtual LAN)

Our friends at Hi-Rez studios said they'd give us beta keys for the game SMITE.  I took a look at some gameplays for it and it looks pretty awesome.  We could maybe try this game out?  Maybe do a little livestream?

There are a lot of options out there for a community game night. Obviously we could go old school, like Jordi suggested, and go after something like Halo for 16 players, CS:S, and so on. There are also a lot of MMOs that you could organize huuuge groups to play in as well, everyone starting off fresh, etc etc.

Personally, I'm just a fan of playing games with other people. We could set up a Terraria server or a Minecraft server for the massive amounts of players they can hold. I'm able to set up both, although Minecraft lags some of the time (not the PC, but the connection for some reason, connection is perfect in Terraria).

As of this moment, Kirk has also set up a thread about playing SMITE together, which I think would be pretty awesome if we could orchestrate that somehow. There are a lot of opportunities for us and not a lot being done on the matter, so if anyone wants to actually start doing this, let me know. I can set up a Terraria server for the times I'm not online playing something ridiculously processor intensive, and so on. Minecraft is a possibility as well on my end.
