    So...I'm super hyped, how about you guys?

    I watched some PvP videos and I'm still confused why it takes 10 mins to have a 1v1 with some one. I would get really bored if I played this game. But the PVE part is really neat looking

    I've been hyped for the past 3 years for the game, Been wanting to play ever since I quit Aion about a year ago. So yeah I'm hyped! Oh and coming from Aion where 1 v 1 pvp last less than 2 seconds sucked ass. GW2 pvp looks more team oriented which I like.

    those yogscast guys... hahaha, I love them.  They are my primary source of information for minecraft patches and general information.  Always love their stuff, but I guess I didn't realize they did anything else.  Awesome!  Also I never preordered GW2, didn't really care about that beta for some reason, but I'll probably have to end up getting that.  It will come just in time for my first winter at new location!

    Lucigen I'll give you my opinions on it I guess. This is a game I was super excited for, and still am after the beta. I started playing World of Warcraft at launch, so that would be November of 2004. I've quit it but went back several times. There has only been one reason I've ever felt inclined to quit WoW. It was because my guild disbanded or went inactive, so I wasn't playing with the people I wanted to play with. After Cataclysm came out I bought, joined a guild, cleared all the new raid content, and quit. It was the only time I quit for any reason either than my guild disbanded or went inactive. I quit because the content had become too easy and accessible to everyone, the gear progression was far too linear, partially as a result of the prior, and I wanted a new MMO with a large new world to explore. WoW has a lot of really great memories for me, and the thing that was in common with all of those memories is that they're all from exploring and finding things people hadn't known about. Guild Wars 2 so far has a lot of that. There is so much to explore and find. The questing is better than most MMOs, the combat is clean, but most importantly I can wander around a zone hours and still find new hidden secrets, and every time I do a big smile comes across my face. Guild Wars 2 is the MMO I've been looking for for several years now and its not because its got great combat, or great dungeons, or story, but because the environment is lush and beautiful and ready to explore. This is literally the only MMO I've played besides WoW that has made me feel like this when traveling through the game world, and I love it.

    @rbeldessi

    thats actually a great... review? story? not sure what to call it but i love it.  I haven't been playing any of the betas but I also come from a very different background in MMOs.  I started with the free to play Silkroad Online.  It was a great first experience but the grinding was so difficult that you had to either buy an item to double your experience or you had to bot (something i refused).  Before I stopped I was the 2nd highest player on the server that I knew of who was still 100% free to play, but I was only about 50% of the way to lvl cap.  The game mechanics and combat is still my very favorite.  After messing around with some other f2p games I finally went to 2moons/dekaron.  Another f2p game where I spent a ton of time, but that fell into the clutches of mismanagement and hacking until it was unbearable.  Ive played bits and pieces of aion, rift, perfect world, forsaken world, battle of the immortals, 9 dragons and some others i cant remember.  Its been hard for me though to find a game thats intriguing, has an exciting combat system, good community, reasonable graphics, and I see as worth putting in time to lvl up.  My main gripe with MMOs has always been that they focus more on amount of time spent than actual skill.  I have always played alot of FPSes and its so easy to get up and play with your friends instead of mmos where you have to work to keep up with your friends.  With the debuffing of the characters in this, im hoping that gw2 has solved that and will finally be worth playing.  Anyway thats my take and history on MMOs, think its a good fit for me?

    With the scaling of levels it makes it way more accessible to play with your friends, and you aren't punished for doing lower level content since experience gain is fairly linear through out the entire game. Also since gear doesn't play as much of a role in GW2 as it does in other MMORPGs (like WoW) the gear treadmill just isn't there and its a lot more focused on skill. I know that the dungeons are reasonably challenging, and the explorable mode dungeons are really hard. As far as PvP goes its not so much about skill or gear as it is about tactics. Especially in WvWvW where there are 100s of people on the battlefield at once. I think you'd probably enjoy it. Really everything about this game is good, or better than average at the least. Story telling is done better than 90% of MMOs I've played. The combat is good, how ever very hot key driven, but the lack of a very strong tank creates chaos and gives it enough spice to not be boring. The game is gorgeous graphically both in style and fidelity. For me though I'm really just excited to find everything there is to find a giant, new world.

    I forgot to mention i did play GW a little, got up to cap with an elemental/mesmer.  I loved the way the character mechanics (skills/stats) worked, the story was better than expected, and the combat was relatively good.  Also I know how you feel about the giant new world thing, thats mostly why I've loved oblivion/skyrim so much.  For me though I havent ever really gotten to that point with an MMO because there were other more serious flaws that made me quit before I got tired of the surroundings.  Sounds like an awesome game though, I think I may as well resign myself to getting a copy shortly after it comes out.  I still refuse to preorder out of principal but it looks like ill be getting it before august is over.  thanks for helping me make up my mind!

    Well, I'm having troubles with the patcher at the moment. Keeps telling me there's a problem with my internet connection. I've googled around and haven't found a single thing to fix it. I've tried using the fixes they suggested and said worked, but at this rate, it looks like the only way to fix it is to wait until it works again.

    Not sure what server I'll be on when I start up, but hoping I get a decent one. One that isn't overflowed to all sin and whatnot.

    EDIT: Well, waiting did the trick. It worked wonders, and I have it fully patched now. Wondering what server to join, but I'll decide when I choose to start recording.

    Haven't been part of an MMO group in forever. Lots of loved memories in FFXI linkshells so... definitely going to get this eventually.

    I think I saw that its a non subscription game, as in no pay per month? Maybe I misread but that alone would have me sold.

    So the real question is; Should we make a guild together and try to get to know each other as gamers on that point or should we continue on as we are and just meet up for specialized events?

    If so, what should the Guild name be? Should we just name it after the site or should we come up with something all snazzy and fun to look at? Or is everyone already situated in guilds and whatnot?

    I'm not in a guild or anything, but I doubt i'll have the time to really do any raiding and whatnot.  I wish I could get in to an MMO like I have in the past, I just don't have the time.

    As someone who's played Guild Wars for a very long time, raiding isn't really part of Guild Wars. Its a PvP oriented game, and the end game will be really hard dungeons, but not 25man raids like we see with WoW or SWOTR, or at least to my understanding.

    just realized i forgot to add im Lucigen.6853!  how do friends work? is it by that code or by individual characters? idk but char is Lucigen.  Add me!! since im dumb and dont know how the friend system works!

    wondering if anyone else is having a little trouble keeping up with their lvl tho.  Ive got like 100% map completion in my home areas, doing all the events and story quests i run into but the last story quest I did I was 5 lvls too low for it.  how do you guys keep up with lvling or am i the only one having these problems?

    Kind of a fun game tho, definitely a little different from the typical MMO but I think im enjoying it.  The auto - debuffing system is especially awesome tho

    You have to take breaks from the story quest. You'll have to level up in multiple areas by the time you reach about 20 or 25.

    Edit: You can add people to your friend list by character or account name I believe. When adding someones character it adds their entire account since you can only play on one server.

    not to necro and old topic here but im pretty into this game, idk about the rest of you.  I just hit lvl 80 yesterday (finally) with my ranger sylvari (stupid plants!).  Anyway im pretty interested in pvp, wvw, build discussion, and crafting stuff.  I went huntsman, which is ranged weapons) and jewlcrafting which I plan on getting to 400 before I work on anything else, so let me know if you guys want anything.  Currently huntsman is around 250 and jewlcrafting is around 200 but now that im 80 I will be dedicating my time to finding good builds for pvp and lvling those up before I move to leatherworking.  What are all your crafting disciplines, what weapons do you like in pvp, and what are your thoughts on wvw? i am a huge fan of this game but Ive had a hard time finding people that are kind of as interested in the numbers/strat as i am.  Are you guys up for it?

    This is why I can't get these games, it's because there's no way in hell I'd ever be level 80 by now lol! I still really want to get this game eventually, even with work and other games that are going to take my time away from it it'd be nice to have something to return to with a community to be part of. Plus now one of my friends picked up her copy so now I have even more people luring me in. Glad its going well for you lucig3n!

    Awesome Racquel! again im LuCiGEN.6853! ill make sure i add you the next time I log in (about 5 hours from now probably)

    @Michael all im going to say is you can take part in both pvp and wvw and you will be scaled up to lvl 80 (pvp you will be at 100% the same, wvw you wont have exotics yet so your probably not going to scale AS well but you can still be a factor) so you dont really need to get to lvl 80 to hang out.  Also higher lvls (me) can come hang out with you and ill get scaled down to wherever so it wont be a slaughterhouse, just balanced gaming.  Whats really awesome about the game is that you really dont need to play that much to still ahve fun.  To be a total badass you need to play a ton, but amounts of badassery can be obtained by quick reflexes, good ideas, smart builds, etc.

    @Kirk im appaled

    and i will forgive @rbeldessi for not commenting.  I realize the gw2 typically is played in full screen mode and it makes it difficult to see the forums AND play at the same time
