So, today was my first day back in school, and though I know most of you guys here are already out of high school, I wanted to see what everyone was up to this summer! So, what was everyones favorite game they played? what did you guys do other than sit on your asses like me and play games? I think my favorite game this summer was Elsword, I made a review for it but am still completely hooked on it! And when I wasn't at home on my computer I was up in orange county visiting family; I saw them more this summer than I normally ever do, and my family rocks so I'm really happy about it!

No longer in high school =x ..I wish I got more vacation time this summer!  I did visit my brother up in mammoth lakes for labor day.  Other than that just been going to the beach or running on the weekend.  Trying to think of things to add to the site of course!

Game I played the most this summer was Dota 2, followed by Awesomenauts I think.

I am out of high school as well, but I am in my last year of university and I AM SO EXCITED TO GRADUATE SOON.

As for this summer, I had done summer courses because I am a nerd like that. I haven't gotten away too much other than to Canada's Wonderland and back in June I went to Ottawa for a Spartan Race!

As for games, I was playing Diablo 3, and Amnesia. I never got a chance to play them too much! BUT, I will making sure that I make some time to play games during the school year... just because I said so.

What is Canada's Wonderland?  Is that like Disneyland for the northern folks?

Canada's Wonderland is an amusement park and its half decent. I'd say it is very similar to Disneyland, yes. Although, I still prefer Cedar Point in Ohio though... that is the ULTIMATE amusement park.

I think I've heard of Canada's Wonderland! All the theme parks in other countries sound cooler then the ones I've been too :\ I want to go to the pokemon theme park in japan one day, that'd be so cool!

I go to mammoth every few years to go snowboarding :O its my favorite winter activity, I went up with my whole family last winter and we rented out a cabin for 3 days :P

No more school for me but boy would I also love to see the pokemon theme park. I got around to finally playing portal 2 at the end of the summer and am still finishing it. Been adjusting to moving during the summer so not much time to try many new games. Aside from Portal 2 I also played some Kirby: Return to Dreamland which as a retro NES gamer was awesome to experience. I'm looking for the time to try some new counter-strike and have to grab my guild wars copy soon since they ran out of digital copies lol

How do they run out of digital copies?

Anyways, get CS:GO it's fun.  Well it's really hard, which  makes it fun.

what makes it hard? is it easy to be shot down, or...?
I liked playing hardcore multiplayer in call of duty but to be killed so quickly is a bit of a hassle when it comes to the story mode :P

Its hard because I invited Kirk to play on my server and the people I play with have been playing 15+ hours a week of CS since 1.6 for the most part or Source, and all used to scrim full time for CAL and CEVO matches.

yes, that's why it was hard!  I got raped.  Hard.  I think i had maybe 10 kills in two hours, and in one match i had 5 kills.  so .............

To be honest you didn't do badly. I've had plenty of matches where I've gone 2-5 or worse and still been an asset. It's a really team oriented game and the config for that server is supposed to encourage team play. KDR isn't as really important in CS, not like a death match game.

Also Brennan the reason CS is hard is because of its shooting mechanics. It's a lot different than CoD or any other modern military FPS. It puts a strong emphasis on well placed shots, and recoil control, something CoD or BF doesn't have. It can take awhile to get used to. Also the money system proves difficult for new players because they don't know when to save and buy.

Oooh, so it plays smarter than CoD? I like that! I aplways liked having accurate shots over being able to spray hell everywhere :P What exactly do you buy in it? Is there a lot of customization options for guns?

At the beginning of a half you start with $800, you need to buy your body armor, guns, grenades, etc. every round. Every kill gets you $300, unless you get a kill with an AWP which I think is $50, you also get money at the end of the round, more for winning, but even if you lose you get money. If you die you lose your equipment. You don't customize in Counter-Strike... The lack of customization is what makes CS a competitive shooter unlike CoD or BF. You just buy your factions guns, for example terrorists have AK47s as their primary assault rifle, and counter-terrorists have M4s.

The problem with going on these forums is that you guys explain the gaming experience perfectly so I know I'm going to enjoy these games. There are too many, too little time! I need to jump on steam and get my ass handed to me like Kirk soon.

It was pretty ridiculous the other day. I felt like I was in a cozy blanket when driving around half the time. The other half was spent sweating and thinking about return to my air-conditioner at home.

But WOW was it randomly cold this morning! Wonder if Summer got fed up with all our complaining and finally left.

It's gotten to a point where its cooler in the mornings, at least. I hate waking up sweaty because its too hot, so I'm glad for that!

It's been getting colder here. It gets to like the perfect temperature around the early afternoon but then it cooled right down, probably because it rained though... Phooey. I need to stock up on some Fall/Winter clothing apparently!
