Oh man, I've never liked writing intros. It's always been my biggest hurdle when breaking into a new community. There's so much pressure to be witty and funny that I never really know where to start. I mean, if I fail here -- if I can't make a good first impression to woo you guys -- I might as well just pack up and move on. So, lets do this right, right? Just keep it basic:

Hi, my name is Mark. I'm from Green Bay, WI. I'm new to San Diego and I'm new to the site. Cool beans, yo. Woo-ed yet?

*sigh of relief* Thanks for getting to know me! See you around the site.

lolol, just kidding! There's no way I could leave you (and your peaked interest) hanging like that. So, for your entertainment, I give you: me.

But, to spare you the life story that no one really asked for, I'm just gonna give you the nitty gritty fun facts, presented top 10 style:

    1. I'm and Xbox console gamer and a Nintendo handheld gamer.
    2. My favorite video games are a toss up between the Assassin's Creed series and anything Mario.
    3. I don't care for cats. And, I realize that this may be a deal breaker for some of you, but just know: its not that I hate cats per se, I just really, really, really don't like them. Like, at all...
    4. Instead, I have a dog. He's a Yellow Lab named Toby and I love him to death. Weighing in at 70 lbs, he's scared of cats.
    5. As a child, I adopted a serious disdain for Sony's Playstation consoles -- a feeling that, for some reason, still carries through to today.
    6. I graduated as a Communication Arts major (basically a film degree) from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
    7. Though summer is my favorite season, its ultimate downfall is the loss of my favorite primetime TV shows. I love me some Revenge!
    8. Maybe I'm alone on this, but I actually enjoy watching people play video games as much as I like to play them myself.
    9. Sometimes, I pretend to care/know anything about sports just to make conversation. But secretly? I don't.
    10. I firmly believe that Greg Daniels returning as The Office's showrunner for season 9 can bring the series back to its former glory and give it the farewell season it deserves. That's important to me.

Wow. Got your fill of "Mark intro" yet? I know I did. lol

Got a comment or question to ask? Dislike my comment about disliking cats? Let me know! I'd love to hear from you.

We're gonna have an issue with the cat thing ..

But great intro.  There was suspense and there was drama, plus .. I didn't have to wait 4 months to hear the end.  Bravo!

    Welcome to the community.

p.s. I take it you're not a Packers fan then?  I thought it was more or less a privilege, not a choice, to be a Packers fan if you're from Green Bay.

    HI MARK
I'm and Xbox console gamer too! as well as PC and PS3 tho (I don't like ps3 either but there was this girl...)

From your into I have gathered that you are NOT the Mark McDonald I worked with last summer analyzing power systems, and wind turbines though huh?  Just a warning though, I now have high expectations of Mark McDonalds...
Anyway you gonna be on Halo 4 or are you not into that kind of jumpy shooty nonsense like I am?

Welcome Mark. That cat thing isn't necessarily a deal breaker, I'll just let it slide since you like Assassin's Creed.

I am currently in a Communications, Media and Film program with June 2013 being my graduation month! CAN'T WAIT!? Did you like your program?!

@Kirk - Despite there being 70 people with the name Kirk Wallace, you will be the only one that gives the name its awesomeness. Just sayin'. Nice new site, I love the cat header xD Definitely should go along with it in the future.

Even though I love cats, as long as you love some form of affectionate animal it's all good man. Dogs are amazing, seriously. They make their owners lives better. My Black Lab in NJ is 108 lbs. and totally afraid of cats, and balloons! LOL

I got similar game preferences. I own PS3 but its only for the occasional fighting game because the one thing ps3 has on xbox was make a controller that has a d-pad on separate buttons rather than one shitty axis that makes quarter-circle moves annoyingly hard. But yah Halo 4? Jumpy shooty nonsense as lucig3n would put it is the bomb.

The Office is fantastic right now. I look forward to it every week. I honestly enjoyed every season but holy crap did they make this season like drastically and immediately better. Clearly we all have more things in common than Jim does with Plop.

Kirk I was going to ask about the Packers fan thing too lol. Because we may have had a problem with Reina and I both being Vikings fans =O !

lucig3n, no, I'm not the "analyzes power systems/wind turbines" Mark McDonald that you know, and obviously admire; I'm just the "plays video games" Mark McDonald. But lucky for you, I also happen to be the best kind of MM, so consider your expectations exceeded.

For the sports fans -- I am absolutely a Packers fan by default. Football and golf (oddly enough) are the only two sports that I really don't mind watching, so long as I have some invested interest in one of the teams or players: e.g. Packers or Badgers -- On Wisconsin! The problem is, I never actually actively seek them out unless I'm really desperate for something to do. btw, to Michael and Reina, the Vikings "fans": no hard feelings, we all make mistakes.

Racquel, I am a HUGE Assassin's Creed fan! Super stoked for AC3, even though I'm gonna miss good ol' Ezio. Also, gotta give a shout out to the AC multiplayer. I had huge doubts going into it, but what they accomplished for online gameplay for that style game just blew me away. I absolutely love it.
Since you asked about my major, yes, I really really liked my program a lot! I actually started college as pre-med and was hating life pretty bad until I found Communication Arts. I have no doubt that I made the right choice for myself.

And finally, yes, I really love Halo. This may surprise y'all, but my favorite Halo game to date was actually ODST. They took a different approach to narrative development/story for the spinoff and they really knocked it out of the park, IMO. Another surprise? I think Bungie passing the series to 343 is the best thing that could have happened to the franchise. I love Bungie for what they created, but at the same time, I think they were really holding the series back by sticking too close to tradition and ignoring competition. 343 seems to have realized that and are making a game that pushes the Halo envelope while still sticking to many of the basics that have been there from the start. Wow, short story made long, yes, I'll be playing Halo 4 when it comes out. lol

You couldn't have juust left it at no hard feelings could you? You just hadddd to say "we all make mistakes"...   this will be a fun relationship XD

I'll say more about ODST in the other post but I respect liking the game I just don't play through story modes in games much so have no comparison except from what I hear and through multiplayer changes, which obviously ODST didn't have TOO much. Feel free to rip on my lack of playing through one-player modes. I know halo is amazing, in fact just recently played through Reach finally and replaying combat evolved anniversary for fun. Trying to get into the big name story games. For example, I LOVE assasins creed, but haven't played since the first and never beat it because every time I turned it on I had way to much just using it's sandbox world to kill people. I am such a simple gamer, give me a fun way to kill things and I guess I don't complain.

Btw Golf is awesome. I alwasy root for the Irish guys <_< lol
