Anyone else enjoy a good book? I am really into Fantasy/Sci-Fi books and some of my favorites that I've read in the last year or so are A Song of Ice and Fire, The Kingkiller Chronicle, and the Mistborn trilogy. If you're a member of goodreads.com, you can check out my book list at http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/6654853-kyle?shelf=read&view=table How about you, read anything good? |
I LOVE to read. But I don't really usually like high fantasy. I loved The Hunger Games trilogy and I do enjoy some good dystopian fiction and my other favorite genre is probably thrillers/suspense. I recently read a really, really strange but well-written dystopian YA novel that I want to recommend, PURE by Julianna Baggott. |

I'll be straight up. I don't read books much. Not that I don't like reading, however I have a lot of other hobbies, plus there's a lot of other activities to do. When I do actually read a book, I like books similar to Stephen King. Mostly sci-fi, horror, etc. Also books are for winter if I do read one, as summer is reserved. Now magazines, that's entirely new ball park. |
Well, keep in mind PURE for this winter's reading list. It was strange as I said, for example, one character had his brother fused to his back, but I think you would like it! It's all about the aftermath of some "event" that killed millions and then fused the remaining survivors with whatever they were doing/holding at the moment of the explosion. If that "event" really happened, I would guess that many of the readers of this board would probably be fused to their consoles/keyboards. |

I am currently reading the Hunger Games series. I am on the first one right now, and I am trying to get into it but school and other stuff keeps getting in the way of me reading it! I am going to try to finish it by the end of the week. |
I'm with bloodbath, no time for books, but love magazines. What magazines do you read? |
COSMO, oh goodness... I used to, not so much anymore when I read the stuff that said "Make your guy do this" and I am like... you don't need to make your guy do ANYTHING he doesn't want to. /rant On a gaming-related note, I read Game Informer and the Official Xbox Magazine every once in a while when I have some money or the Playstation magazine as well. |
I feel like the gaming magazines don't really have much different from what I can read online (for free), otherwise I'd read them more. |
Yes, you do bring up a good point. You don't want to waste your money on something that you can get for free and changes every minute pretty much on a website whereas you are limited to the magazine you've bought and it will never change. |
I kinda feel magazines are more personalized. The craftsmanship stands out more to me as well. When I go out camping, hunting, or just on an escapade I'll bring a few mags along to read. I personally enjoy Game Informer, Xbox Mag, and a few Outdoors and Offroad (4x4) mags. |
I'm not a huge reader but war and science fiction novels really interest me the most. Tom Clancy is my favorite author by far, his attention to detail is amazing. Currently I'm reading: Tough Shit, By Kevin Smith. It's an autobiography and is very interesting since he is one of my favorite directors. |
Hold on, Camping? Is that the new expansion to Going Outside? I couldn't get past the first level. |
Oh, I just thought of another book that I enjoyed that some of you may also like; WORLD WAR Z. It's an oral history of survivors from after the Zombie apocalypse. It's being made into a movie that's supposed to come out in 2013. So for those of you who like to read the book before you see the movie, get reading! |
I 'read' World War Z via audiobook. First and only audiobook I've read. I love zombies, but I just couldn't get into it. |
I don't think I can do that kind of book - I prefer psychological thrillers and stuff. Oh and I do need to finish The Dark Tower series. Anyone here read comics, though? I'm reading through The Walking Dead since I couldn't deal with the season being over. :P |
I read the 1st book and half of the 2nd book of The Dark Tower, but I just couldn't get into it for some reason. Should I keep reading? They need to kill Carl in The Walking Dead. Kid is driving me nuts. |
It might be easier to read the graphic novels? It's been raved about, but I had to put it down halfway through the first book. If I read further than you, I'll let you know. And yes. Carl and Lori both. Although they are much more tolerable in the comic. Except Lori... she's always irritating. :D |
