The War Z comes out tomorrow.  Was curious if anyone got in on the pre-order and played yet, what their thoughts are?  I played a little DayZ so i have an idea, but just wondering it it's gonna be as cool as i'm hoping.

According to everyone I've talked to the game is broken, and nothing they said was going to be a feature is. Just avoid it.

    That's disappointing.

Yeah one of the Aussie journos here mentioned that I was better off playing Day Z rather than The War Z (unless, of course, I'd already paid for it). He wouldn't go into details though, because it was an active preview/review he was working on for a publication.

Jordi said this game was pretty disappointing as well.  I bought ArmaII so I could play DayZ but my computer can't handle it, which is why I was hoping to play The War Z.

I purchased War Z at the first of the month. Right now, the game is still in Alpha testing. There's definitely a lot missing from the game, but I think people are buying this expecting a full fledged game. The studio may have made a mistake for doing so, but they probably needed the funding and got what they needed from the current preorders. None of the less, the game is fun especially with other people. Playing alone, not so much. However there is a lot to be desired, but it's Alpha. Not much to expect. I heard there is a massive update for the game at the end of the month when it moves into closed or open beta. So we shall see how much is improved.

Since my last post, I played the game from the first of November to the end. I have to say, the game leaves A LOT to be desired. I decided to purchase it back on November 1st when it was suppose to go into a beta phase. The main reason I purchased it, was based on how the game was described on their main site, plus some official footage I watched like from PAX. However after playing the game, it definitely does not feel like any zombie MMO. The fear factor is in the game no doubt, but it's fear from other players and not zombies. Honestly the zombies in the game are a joke. No real AI, except to run to you when you enter in a certain radius.

In the end, it definitely feels like a half-ass title to be truthful. It had potential no doubt, however was poorly executed by a poorly managed development team. They have definitely been very deceptive about the game, details about it, how it's sold, the beta, and the list goes on.

//Edit - Also looks like as of today, it's now officially released and what's funny is, they are still advertising features on Steam that are not in the game. /sigh

I've read a few posts about The War Z and how deceptive they have been.  In fact Blaine, one of our new writers, wrote a piece within the last hour about it: http://mmoattack.com/mmo-news/critical-hit-opinions-on-the-war-z

It looks like the developer's have way over-hyped the game and have released something that is rather deceptive and does not play as advertised.

Yep glad to see the War Z article from Blaine honestly. Should get some well deserved attention, as I have seen it linked on both the War Z forums and the Steam forums. Personally, I was enjoying the game in the beginning with the others I played with. However I kinda ran out of things to do within the first few days. Ended up just repetitively killing other players until that got old. Blaine might take a liking to my 'mega' post on the Steam forums about this game. Normally I don't waste my time, but Hammerpoint should be called out. http://steamcommunity.com/app/226700/discussions/0/828925216535135621/

Back to Planetside 2 and BF3.

I'm glad I waited until this morning to read up on this game, so many changes in a 5 day span! LOL

Man this sucks I really had high hopes for this idea. I hear Day Z mod is still better, but I want a full on MMO that works, if it's not too much to ask!

It was pretty amazing to see how bad the PR for this game was handled, even up to the end when they apologized yet still blame the backlash on the 'fans not understanding'. Yea okay its a million individuals that are wrong, not the corporation of 100 people who probably don't actually play video games as often.

The PR and Management department at The War Z is a joke. For the gamers, it had potential. However for the Management, The War Z was created as a blatant cash cow. So far everything that has come out of the Management there is deceptive, and most of the time a flat out lie. I've been on the front lines during most of this, and I'm glad it finally got pulled from Steam. Had my posts and feedback featured in a few Destructoid articles. Between Rhinocrunch and Total Biscuit, think those two videos sum it all up.

I love that the developers claim that WarZ has been in development longer than DayZ.

I skipped through the video because it was really long, but I kinda saw everything in the BORE Z. Oh man was that funny. I love how the guy gets progressively more angry. He like begins saying the game has flaws in a proper elegant way, then by the end he's just like "this game is garbage" hahaha

BUT WOWWWWW is this game a hard core fail. Didn't know it looked so dinky either.

Last summer, I ended up not buying DayZ because I thought WarZ was the rumored standalone version.  I did not realize until a few months ago that it was a completely different game.
