Alright, so I don't know about you, but I am PUMPED for Halo 4's release. I will be working the midnight release til about 1:30am EST at my work and I am SO stoked. I will be gaming all night on Tuesday in the early A.M.

Will YOU guys be? We should totally set up some kind of game night (I know we've tried this before with little luck) and play HALO since it is the ultimate multiplayer game that anyone can play.

I've always loved the Halo series - Halo Reach being my favourite out of all of them (besides Combat Evolved), so we shall see how this one pans out.

    What do you guys think?!

I'll be interested to see what people think of Halo4.  Besides undergoing a chance in developer, its also trying to bounce back from creating a game that essentially split the halo community in half.  There's a lot riding on this release, and so far I've avoided almost all hype about it.  I'm not going to be preordering because that's just what I do, but I will be eagerly awaiting some in game footage and some sales figures.  If the game does well, brings the estranged halo community back together, and has good gameplay, then I'll be buying it later on.  Otherwise there will exist a halo game that I didn't buy (halo wars doesn't count as a halo game)

I'm still debating whether or not i'm going to buy it.  I was once a pretty big Halo fan, well, still am a fan of the original trilogy.  But since Halo 3 I have been completely turned off by the game.  I thought Halo Wars was garbage and then didn't buy the next few games.

I guess i'm like Lucig3n in that i'd rather wait a bit, see how people react to the game and then make my decision.  Rather than rushing out to get it just because of the Halo name and then disappointing myself.  I've been wasting a lot of money on games that I only play for a week lately.

Well, I could record some stuff about Halo 4 and post 'er on YouTube for ya or something - just like some campaign footage and some multiplayer footage as well (and it'd give me something to do with my life as well, aha). I understand your perspective on it though. I've heard a lot of bad things about Halo 3 and Halo Wars and all of that as well, so we will see what happens!

Kirk - That's no good! You gotta stop that D= although it may be hard to differentiate between you thinking it being a good game and one not so very interesting.

Halo 3 was great. It was Halo: Reach that kinda sucked. That said, I'm a big Halo fan, so I'll probably give Halo 4 a shot.

I've liked all the Halo games, but Halo 4 is the first one since Halo 2 that I'm actually reallly excited about. I've got it all pre-ordered and I plan on picking it up at midnight and everything.

mmomcdonald - YAY! Me too! I pre-ordered it at work tonight before I left xD I will be working the midnight launch at my store, but ohhh man, I'll be playing it all night. Did you get the Collector's Edition?

Collector's Edition? Heck yeah! The extra cash you put out essentially pays for itself given the free download of the first three map packs. But at the end of the day, I'm really just a sucker for a cool game case...

Has anyone besides me been watching the Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn live action web series? Because it's amazing. They just released the final episode (Part 5) today and the end gave me goosebumps -- it was sooo good!

Plus, at the beginning of each episode, they show bits of Cortana while she's on the ship with Chief after being stranded after Halo 3. Super super interesting.

No, I hadn't watched the webseries, but, wait for it, I GOT THE GAME, YAY!

I only played a little of it because I ended up getting motion sickness from it -.- of course... xD

But, I am going to see if I can get a streaming device for my Xbox and stream 'er online for you guys if you wanted to watch it before you got the game.

Picked mine up last night at midnight!

I've only played the prologue level because I had to work this morning, but it played so well and I already love where the game is going. I think the Chief/Cortana relationship is one of the most compelling aspects of the Halo series so I'm glad they're really going full force with that.

Is everyone still playing this? What's the verdict so far?

I've actually never really been into Halo - the most fun I had was Firefight on ODST with a good mate until the wee hours of the morning. I don't think I even finished campaign on that. I can't remember if I've played other Halo games either. (How bad am I?)

There's a bit of controversy on the review scores though - mostly whether the 10/10 type scores are actually saying it is a perfect game, or a great game despite it's flaws. What do you guys think?!

@McDonald  yea i was watching them too, greatly enjoyed them and then seeing bits of it spread through the campaign of h4 was cool.

@Debs its very different from previous halo games imho but I'm enjoying it so far.  Beat the campaign and spartan ops, played a fair bit of MP and its certainly not perfect but its better than reach for me

@kirk saw you were on today but i was with a full party the whole time, will try and get ya for a couple games of mp in the near future!

Haven't touched the story mode yet, usually stick to multiplayer games I can just pick up and put down at will. So I have been well addicted to war games.

I seriously don't want to put this game down though. Thank god it doesn't have the glitchy problems Reach did. Don't get me wrong, almost every halo game has been better than the last, but wow I didn't expect this type of improvement. Fantastic scoring system and finally people are getting some due credit for their assists. It's always hard to give a game a 10/10, especially so early on... but I honestly haven't found many flaws in the multiplayer except for lack of maps. (guess i'll break down for that damn map pack). I agree with lucig3n that it's not perfect, but that's probably because we are gamers and have been for a long time. For us, near perfect tends to be our final rating!

my biggest complaint is that there is no timer on respawn for normal gametypes.  That timer is something I see as fundamental to halo, and its just too much like COD for me without it.  My other problems with the game mostly stem from how one gets power weapons.  I do not like ordinance, I do not like the markers showing where and when spawns are up, and I don't like the weapon spawns in general.  Map control has always been a huge part of halo, and balancing the best positions with pwr weapon control was always a big deal, that's now gone and I miss it.  I'm going to say that I kind of miss firefight too.  Granted I didn't play it much, but the spartan ops are so short, and there is no penalty for dying in coop (weird) so legendary is suddenly a joke.  I would also complain about gametypes but I understand they are adding more lobbies sometime soon.

For me, its a 7/10 so far

Alright, I just picked this game up, having been a Halo fan almost as long as I've been able to play M rated games (Since I was about 12 or so) and I'm looking forward to it. My 360 is updating now as I haven't had it plugged in for a long, long time and I'm genuinely looking forward to wasting another year of my life on yet another Halo game.

There are obviously a few things I need to learn again and I'm going to have to get used to the controls on this Halo as well, but all-in-all I think I'm going to enjoy it. So the question now is, how many people am I going to be able to add to play with on here? I normally hate going into MP games alone for a variety of reasons, but since it's on XBL, it's all that much more painful considering how many people are so aggressive, or so they were when I was playing Reach Last year. Hopefully the community is a bit more friendly. In any case, avid Halo player, though I never read any of the books.

    EDIT: Gamertag is GBPR Demoman

Ouch, 7/10?! Maybe I'm just biased because the campaign has never been better.

But honestly I think I really like most of the changes they've made to multiplayer -- much more better. It brings in some necessary CoD improvements while still remaining very Halo.

There is no such thing as a necessary CoD(like) improvement.

The game is clearly gravitating towards CoD, and while I can understand doing that, I also hate it.  I don't want every noob on the map to know where and when rockets spawned.  I want the people who are thinking about it to get them.  I want the chess match of map position to punish those who don't play like that.  I want you to be punished for running in like a reckless idiot, and having to think about your sins while you await respawn.  I want people to think about their shots instead of mashing the trigger for half a second.

In essence, I don't want the halo and cod communities to come together.  A halo 4 anti-cod vaccine would definitely bring my rating up

It's my favorite Halo yet. I've been working on finishing the legendary campaign over the last week-ish and its a challenge, but it's super fun. I think multiplayer needs more maps though -- I feel like I'm playing the same thing over and over again.

Boy do I agree on it being my favorite Halo yet. Haven't gotten through much of the campaign, just a few of the early stages on legendary. Been so addicted to War Games and unlocking everything I can while leveling up. The leveling system is fantastic in my opinion. You can unlock enough battle upgrades pretty quick yet have a lot to work for with all the armor and stance upgrades (if you care about little things like that). I basically think it's just enough 'extra stuff' to give the game a boost of flavor and drive.

The daily and weekly achievements are pretty cool, something to look forward to. I love how fair the game is now, giving assists bonuses based on the level of damage contribution, rather than who landed shots when in relation to an enemy death. There may be a ton of medals but I actually don't think it's overboard. Again it seems fair. You get medals for even distracting enemies? That's pretty fun.

I also like the unlocking goals simple things like your logo. I in particular have been hopping in ghosts and playing more big team because I want to level up my Splatter Mastery and unlock a fun logo of a guy being split in half. The handful of simple things like these are what gives everyone something to aim for I think.

The sprinting aspect is good. Helps get around the level and stuns your
gun for the first second of your run ending. So you can't just blindly
rush into battle against someone decent hoping to outgun them. Seems
balanced to me. Also with all the powers this game has, none seem to
piss me off the way they did in Reach. Would much rather there be a
Promethean Vision than an armor lock. The heal bubble and shield don't
seem broken whatsoever. I also am enjoying the way every weapon works. I keeping getting owned by Needlers so not a fan of them right now. Also don't get how the fuck people use the scattershot, I am such a scrub with that weapon yet die from it all the time. Incineration Cannon is easily the best thing every created lol.

As far as the bad things go, I agree with Lucig3n that the ordinance drops are random. I don't necessarily think they are unfair because if you are getting enough kills you skill will get you multiple drops faster than the unskilled people you are playing who could luck out on their one drop. Sometimes it gives noobs an edge to be better, but eh... just makes me want to be better at the game. Seems like something that can be overlooked.

The markers for the weapons though is stupid I agree. People shouldn't know where the weapons are unless you play the map enough. That's just learning where things are in a game, don't need your hand held through everything. And people will figure it out fast because as mmomcdonald said, THERE AREN'T ENOUGH MAPS. Seriously there's like 6 to choose from on each setting. That's nothing. Now I have to go download that damn map pack that was released with the game... thanks 343, greedy douchenozzles.

The worst part of the new map pack is that once you download them, those are literally the only maps you're gonna see in rotation... It's rare that I get to play on Ragnarok or Exile these days.....

I still play Halo 4 every once in a while. No matter how bad the series is getting I can't help playing every so often. When you listen to tons of halo related stuff like Rooster Teeth, which clearly everyone else here already knows about, it's hard to stay away from the game too long. Maybe that's just me though. Anyone else play? My Xbox live subscription is ending and I might make a new gamer tag and start with a fresh friends list, since my RL friends don't play anymore anyway.

I still play often. You just get that craving sometimes. I still have to get the newest map pack. It's pretty annoying just playing Haven on regular and Exile on Big Team... or getting maps I suck at.
So glad the brought back Grifball! Although I can't see anything on Sarge's Lab. Why did they put a butt load of lightbulbs at eye level?

I've played that game for 1 night in the last like.. 6 months.  The series keeps getting less halo-esque which bothers me, and you have to keep paying to get updated map packs and xbl...  When I compare that to the other games I'm playing like LoL and WoT... there's no comparison.  It's hard for me to say it but I think I've finally moved on from Halo.  Probably won't get another Halo game.

    Destiny on the other hand...

I hear ya man. I dont buy a ton of games, I just try em out. So I go back to halo because I am a fan of the series, and dont want to relearn the mecahnics of halo 3 lol. I haven't actually been happy with Halo since Halo 3. The other ones are okay. As I said, I still play 4 and I enjoy it. But the old feeling of craving halo has left. Or to better prove the point, the craving is still there but almost every session ends angry at the game, rather than happy how things went. (I clearly dont like that I still suck lol)

I'm definitely over Halo multiplayer. I dabble a little bit during the month of release but otherwise I never really play it. The game is still worth it for the campaign though if you're into that aspect of it.
