So, who's getting it? It comes out tomorrow and I'll probably be getting White 2. I wonder how many of you full fledged adults still can say they love Pokemon games? :P

If I had a DS i'd be interested in getting it.  Pokemon was always a great game.

Turning 25 in a month, 100% getting Black 2 in the next few days. Looks like it's time to cut down on sleeping hours!
Who you choosing as a starter Brennan? I'm going Oshawatt like I did last time, not that it matters because he won't be in my final team.

I can't wait to see the random other generation pokemon we can catch along the way! I already know I can get a Growlithe after the first gym so that's good enough for me!

my starter, huh... I didnt get a starter in my black game because it had been my friends and he traded it to his, I ended up using Stoutland the whole story... I'll probably choose tepig because it's the only one I dont actually have even though my pokedex is done, but I'm planning on trading a baby absol over and using that as soon as I can

I'm looking forward to the story of this one though; since its the same generation as before and this is the sequel its going to have to be really cool and engaging, and that's exciting to me :3 I'm also excited to get genesect, theres an event going on where you can get him if you buy the game quickly enough

The new story is going to be great. Can't wait to see how the new "Team" enemies play and find out why everything is covered in teh snow.

Genosect will be cool, I like his concept of type changing and relation to the new story. Absol is so cool lol. I don't use him often because my brother is super competitive and therefore anything with semi average stats aint usually worth it. Absol is close though, usable and fun move set. Aesthetically he's one of the coolest. Dark and Water pokemon all the way for me. Although at some point I will need my next Snorlax, always gotta breed a Snorlax.

I actually started getting into metagaming recently, but it worked out because absol is a great sweeper for a lot of teams, and its sucker punch has some serious power. As for Black and white 2, I played up to after the 2nd gym boss today, and its veeery story based. like, it throws you straight in, you see your rival and a lot of main characters at almost every step. I'm also really happy about the way the wild Pokemon work in this game, there's a lot of variety right from the get-go.
Metagaming is a lot of fun though :P I learned a lot from it just starting out!

Ohhhh man, I haven't even finished Pokemon White 1 yet... I picked up the game during the 3DS's dry spell and lost focus when Mario 3D Land/Mario Kart finally came out. On that note, I'm really surprised that White/Black 2 wasn't released as a 3DS game given that we're over a year and a half into the system's life cycle already. But I looooove Pokemon, so maybe its finally time to finish the first and move onto 2?

Brennan - Suckerpunch is an awesome move, love when slow pokemon have it. I hear Absol is used as a sweeper. Doesn't he have Baton Pass actually? I'm not sure but as I said my brother is super into meta-gaming and that keeps me knowledgeable about a lot of it. Still don't have the time to keep up though.

I have actually played White 2 up to the 3rd gym in japanese. I'm trying to make a funny video game walkthrough since as you said there's a lot of story line to translate but we'll see how that turns out lol! That's why I need an English version though. I want to play through the whole thing and understand what's going on, also adding to my team of lvl 100's woo! I like how fast they throw you into the game and having a rival again. Cheren and Bianca were a cool concept in B&W but in the end Cheren becomes your battle mountain bitch and Bianca just tells you where old gen pokemon are. I think having a rival brings the game back to it's originality while doing new things. I'm mostly looking forward to gym leader and elite 4 changes, they keep making them more intense.

Mark - Yea finish Pokemon white. Knowing N's story is pretty cool and beating the Elite 4 a second time including Ghetsis and N is actually pretty damn hard. Really need to do some grinding or only catch the few pokemon you want if you want to not struggle at all. Not sure if you need the background story for this new game though. Seems to be based on Kyurem, the legendary dogs, and genesect - all pokemon who weren't in BW1.

Yeah, from what I've seen on sites like Smogon and places like that Absol's main sets are good for Sucker punch, especially if its combined with a sword dance. in my experience Absol is no tank and will go down after a few good hits, and compared to Pokemon like Virizion its speed is pretty lagging, but sucker punch makes up for that because it takes level 2 priority, above quick attack and the other normal priority moves. It also has great attack from what I've seen, and if trained right and used with swords dance it can reach above 500 :P He's definitely on par with my Reshiram, and can take any ghost, psychic or dark types with a 1HKO most of the time.

I'm in Castelia City right now in White 2, I'm loving how heavy they made events and the story line! You see someone at like every turn, it stays exciting, and it feels really different from the normal Pokemon where you're kind of on your own, almost like you're travelling with your rival and Bianca and the rest of them. It was definitely a cool change, and I'm happy with it :3

I ignore most legendary pokemon, feel like its better to catch, breed and raise all your guys. So glad you use Absol lol. Obviously Virizion's speed is ridiculous though. Base stat wise overall Absol is lacking, but so are many pokemon that are totally usable. What's his highest stat his attack? I remember one category is pretty solid. Forgot about swords dance though!

Anyway I'm getting my copy tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing what my final team will look like this time around. The last guy I was working on was a Slaking. Fun but takes longer to level him because of Truant. Crazy beast though lol. Wonder who I'll stumble upon this time around, again probably an Arcanine by default but id want to breed it for Flare Blitz and/or ExtremeSpeed first.

theres some pretty good choices this time around, theres a ton of pretty interesting pokemon right from the start :) absols stats for attack are, surprisingly to me, only 238-394 depending on EV :O I thought it was higher! oh well, he's still my favorite :P

I hate when you think your pokemon is awesome, then you return to realize his stats are comparatively not that great. That's why I thought Absol was a supporter or lacking in some areas. Either way totally usable, lot of pokemon are.

I hate baby pokemon but if you are going to have them you might as well put them early in the game like they are this time around. I really like that they put Elekid and Magby early in the game. There are a good mix of older pokemon and new ones so far I think it's great. Currently on my way to the third gym.

I saw Elekid, but Magby? Where's he? and yeah, after strategizing and looking up stats and things like that a lot of my original teams became really obviously bad :O I remember a few times I had bad movesets too, like special movesets for Dusknoir when his physical attacks were stronger

Elekid is in White 2, Magby is Black 2.

I know what you mean by movesets. I used to think my Snorlax was broken because he could learn things like thunderbolt and blizzard... but then you realize he has no special attack stats, and therefore is a waste of a move on him for the most part. It sucks when it happens but its cool when you learn and better your favorite pokemon of course.

It's amazing though how certain pokemon are useless because of their bad movesets.

yeah! like some pokemon have started to really annoy me, because after learning about how fun it can be having a good range of choice and a fun moveset pokemon that have really boring and repetitive movesets, like trapinch, aren't as fun to use :O

Haha, anyone who enjoyed the original games will find the new one amazing, especially if they haven't been playing them. I completely understand the feeling that the new Pokemon seem weird, or out of place, because I used to feel that way too, but if you kind of just settle into the game and give it an honest chance you realize that they really are all Pokemon; they feel like Pokemon and they only add onto a great game without overdoing it. That's really just an opinion but I have had people come up to me and be shocked at how good the games look now. there's some pretty cool stuff in the new ones.

Fair enough. I think maybe I'll give it a try. I just need to get a handheld system first xD All I have is my Gameboy Colour. What would you recommend in terms of that? I've been really wanting to get one to play Pokemon and Super Mario and Spryo xD

mmm, I just use a DS lite because you don't need to upgrade at the moment, but games are going to start moving up to the 3DS as the main platform in a few years so if you want to be using it for games that come out down the line I would spend the extra money to get that. And on top of that it's like a Wii console in your hands >.> That thing is crazy!

It really just depends on how much you want to spend. The DS lite is only around $50-$100, especially if you get it used or off places like eBay, and the 3DS goes from $100 to $190.

Played it and loved it. I always do "no pokemon center and other free methods of healing Nuzlocke runs" nowadays. Ramps up the challenge quite a bit.

I try to spend as little time on wild pokemon as possible the first time through. I usually know what I want to catch but for Black/White 2 I had no idea what the lineup would be so I looked everywhere. This game was a total success.

I had a friend at community college that played one of the DS Pokemon games on his DS R4 card.  I played them for a bit on his DS, but honestly, the games haven't changed since Red and Blue.

I love how much Nintendo is able to make me feel like I did when I first played red and blue. even though black and white 2 was similar to black and white it still felt like I was going on a new journey with no idea what things id expect to see

call me old fashioned, but my only complaint about Black and White was that I wanted to see more of the original 150 pokemon.......

Even black and white 2? Because I agree black and white 1 lacked early pokemon, but through at least the early portion of BW2 i saw 30-50% 1st gen pokemon. Sadly haven't gotten through it all yet! (Im pathetic lol) That's why I ask.

I got blackandwhite2 thinking there would be more 3D in it... it was still like the other pokemon games which was cool. well i assume so anyway because I never really played the ones after red until the DS ones

Do it! At the risk of sounding cliche like a superfan of any game... I'm pretty sure you will love it. The game is tweaked enough the the minor aesthetic differences plus new plot make it worth a purchase, but the real bonus is finding tons of older pokemon. Again, not totally brushed up on it either yet so not sure how many of the 150 you encounter and when... but I really did see a bunch of them. Was SOOOO happy to find a Growlithe so early on. And they make the game make sense finally because although I hate baby pokemon, they let you find Elekid or Magby... which thereafter evolve into 2 of the original 150. I just really think Pokemon gets better and better, possibly because of how many old favorites I wanted brought back that actually were.

Except 3rd gen lacks in comparison to the rest I feel.

I never like third generation pokemon either. They still feel out of place. I'm sure a lot of people feel that way though for anything past the main 151.

Mmocoda it's definitely worth a try. Gamefly it for a free first month and rush through it if you have to. Still totally fun.

Hey, question... I'm still playing Black and White 1 too and there's something I don't understand. So I've got a Blitzle as one of my main six and he's got fire moves and electric moves. Since he's got moves of two different types, what type of pokemon is he weak to: water or ground? (and what's the logic?)

    January 22 Post: 36

Blitzle is an electric pokemon. He has only one type with no subtype. Being so he is weak to ground moves, not water. Water does the same damage to him as it would to any other non resistant type. It's unique for an electric pokemon to have a fire move (in fact thats why they showed him using it in the BW1 promo trailers / ads).

Electric pokemon are pretty cool because they are the only type that have just one weakness: as i mentioned - Ground. Neither of Blitzle's electric or fire moves do well on ground type pokemon (in fact electric moves are completely ineffective on ground pokemon so don't even try). Avoid ground pokemon at all costs when using him. Feel free to attack water and flying pokemon though! Electric moves don't have many resistances and are super effective against Flying and Water pokemon. You can use your Fire move on grass, ice, steel and bug pokemon.

Not to deter you from using him, but know that fire move is the only one he will ever have unless you actively go find Flame Charge somewhere in the game (which i know is later on). So just be aware he is very electric based, but still fast and fun. Also I'm assuming you don't know what STAB is? But short answer, and fun fact to know - pokemon do more damage when using a move that is of their main type (x1.5 damage to be exact). So even though he has a bunch of electric moves, you won't be forced to ONLY use them and if you do, its cool to know that they will do 50% more damage then his moves of any other type.

Howdy, Stranger!
