Warframe

Warframe from Digital Extreme is a free to play co-op shooter. While most free-to-play shooter games rely on some for of deathmatch multiplayer, Warframe brings people together to take on many different kinds of missions. The missions are relatively small in comparison to large scale battles like Battlefield 3 or Planetside 2, but where it lacks in large scale battles, it makes up in leaps and bounds in player experience.

Missions usually take anywhere from 10 minutes to a half an hour. Each mission has a different type. Running around with three friends searching for a reactor to mash up with a Katana, is like stepping into an awesome sci-fi story. Other missions include assassinations, capturing a target, exterminating everyone, raiding a relic and much more. The different missions are spread out in a way that keeps players playing for a long time while keeping things fresh and pacing action out well.

Players also have a ton of different options for tackling these missions. There are different Warframes to choose from that have different skills and abilities. On top of these Warframes having different skills there is also a large amount of customization. Hitting the customization button on anything opens up huge tiers of upgrade paths that even the most veteran of players would find intriguing. Using skills, guns and melee weapons unlocks these upgrade paths to do more damage, have higher crits and to attack faster. Players can, and will, spend hours in these trees making their character their own.

Warframe offers something different and that’s what makes it special. The character progression and different missions give this free-to-play third person shooter an edge above other games of the same genre. This new sci-fi world is something to keep your eye on and is more than worth your gameplay time.
