For Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Director Naoki Yoshida Christmas came early as he had the opportunity to wow the Final Fantasy community with an exciting series of updates surrounding FFXIV’s first premium expansion, Heavensward.
The 2014 Fan Festival in Tokyo was the home to several major expansion related announcements including the additional of a new playable race, two brand new jobs, a rewarding end-game raid and a plethora of the usual bug fixes, mechanics tweaks and item adjustments.
The brand new playable race, the Au Ra, was revealed for the first time and alongside the previously revealed Dark Knight, the Astrologian healing job and Machinist DPS job will be joining as the new options.
The Mechanical fortress and fan-favorite Alexander will be making his first appearance in a new raid and it was also revealed that Nobuo Uematsu would be composing the official theme song for the Heavensward expansion.
