Old Character Names Wiped For Star Wars: The Old Republic

Bioware today announced that they will be retiring old character names from
free-to-play and Preferred Status players in Star Wars: The Old Republic. The
changes will not affect current players that are subscribed to the premium
service as the changes are intended to give current players more choice when
creating new characters.

This
Character Name Renewal will have no effect on your character names. As a
Subscriber you will keep your names throughout this process and benefit from
the increased options released back into the pool post program.”

Character
names are an important aspect of the connection with your avatar and many players
often find endless variations of their chosen name currently held by
inactive players and level 1 characters.

The
removal of names will begin after Bioware have identified the
inactive accounts.

With the upcoming release of Galactic Starfighter and the wiped character names, there’s never been a better time to begin your journey in Star Wars: The Old Republic.
