Star Citizen Attracts $7 Million In One Month

As seen on Todays Daily XP Video!

Last month Cloud Imperium Games and Roberts Space Industries announced that their massively popular Star Citizen had continue to increase its funding past its initial Kickstarter project. The developers revealed that the game had gathered an additional $16 million in support in the months following its Kickstarter but that number is already old news.

Building from last months $18 million announcement, Cloud Imperium Games and Roberts Space Industries today revealed that Star Citizen is now celebrating a brand new milestone after reaching $25 million. The new funding achievement has unlocked a brand new stretch goal that will include 500,000 additional spots in alpha testing.

We will use additional funding to build a wider alpha test than we had
originally intended for the first phase of Star Citizen?s launch. The
initial plan was to first launch servers in North America and then
expand to areas such as Europe and Australia to decrease latency in
these areas, perfecting the game as we improve the experience around the
world. This funding will allow us to invest in a wider infrastructure
for our early testing, spinning up remote servers earlier. Hitting this
goal will also allow us to increase the number of remaining alpha slots.
Extra alpha slots not only means more Star Citizens will travel the
?verse at launch, but that we will receive more feedback and more stress
testing. This in turn will allow us to better balance and enhance the
Star Citizen experience!

The news comes from the latest Letter from the Chairman which also includes additional information on future stretch goals. October has also proven to be the biggest month thus far in the continued efforts to attract more funding, not that the game really needs it now.
