BlizzCon 2012 Canceled

Every year since 2006, thousands of Blizzard fans have descended on the Anaheim Convention Center to dress like Draenei and talk about their favorite games. Blizzard?s roster includes the massive hits World of Warcraft, Diablo and StarCraft, and BlizzCon has always been a place for fans to interact with developers and find out about upcoming content.

Unfortunately for Blizz lovers everywhere, there will be no BlizzCon in 2012. The company, citing a ?jam-packed schedule,? has elected to pass on the event in favor of the Battle.net World Championship to be held later this year, somewhere in Asia. Blizz has long been a supporter of eSports, but this decision clearly demonstrates they?re more serious about them than people may have thought.

Still, the news is curious. Blizzard isn?t working on any game in 2012 that they weren?t? working on in 2011, so it?s odd to think they?re suddenly too busy to pull the convention together. We?re sure rumors have already begun to fly. One thing?s for sure ? we?re not getting any new information on Blizzard?s top-secret Titan MMO in 2012. Bummer.

Have you ever been to BlizzCon? Are you disappointed that Blizz has elected to cancel the event? It?s definitely going to be harder for many fans to go to Asia than to California.
